Certificate Programs
All programs are designed to provide hands-on technical training and career-focused education aligned with industry needs.
California uses CAMTC certification rather than a state license. With CAMTC certification, you can provide massage for compensation statewide without obtaining multiple local permits, though business/establishment rules still apply. In San Diego, establishments employing CAMTC-certified therapists are generally exempt from the city massage establishment police permit; independent/sole-practitioner establishments have separate requirements. Always verify current city rules before practicing.
California does not currently require the MBLEx for CAMTC certification. Programs often include MBLEx prep so graduates are mobile if they relocate to states that do require it. (CAMTC recognizes multiple exams and updates policies periodically.)
CAMTC requires at least 500 hours of education from a CAMTC-approved school, along with background check and other criteria. (ICOHS’ Professional Massage Therapy program is ~630 hours.)
ICOHS College offers multiple financial aid and payment options for those who qualify, which may include federal financial aid (FAFSA®), veteran and military education benefits, Cal Grant, institutional scholarships, and monthly payment plans.
