The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship Award was created to help women and girls impacted by incarceration pursue higher education and transform their lives through academic opportunity. Founded by Gabrielle Perry in memory of her father, U.S. Army Master Sergeant Thurman Perry Jr., this scholarship provides one-time financial awards to students who are currently enrolled or have been recently accepted into an accredited 2- to 4-year college, university, vocational, or trade school.
This scholarship supports students who have experienced unique challenges due to involvement with the criminal justice system by offering financial assistance that can be used for tuition, books, housing, or other educational expenses. Applicants must demonstrate how furthering their education will help them achieve their goals and contribute to their communities. Priority is given to women and girls who have been directly affected by incarceration and who are pursuing meaningful academic and career paths.
