Employment Scope In the IT Industry

The Information Technology (IT) Industry has always been at the forefront of technological advancements. In recent years, the demand for skilled IT professionals has increased dramatically due to the rapid growth of eCommerce, cloud computing, mobile apps, and social media. As a result, the global job opportunities for information technology professionals have also grown significantly.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment prospects in the Information Technology (IT) industry are projected to increase at a CAGR of 12 percent by 2026. As per BLS, jobs in the IT industry include computer programmers, software developers, web designers, network administrators, and database managers.

The Information Technology (IT) industry has always had a high demand for skilled workers, mainly due to its growth potential and wide range of applications and project management requirements. This makes it a great career choice for anyone looking to advance their skills through higher education. Additionally, employers today are increasingly flexible about the hard and fast rule of employees holding a bachelor’s degree.

Associates Degree in Information Technology - An Overview

Hybrid (In-person & Online) and Online Only program options available.

This program focuses on the following IT certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, and Cisco CCNA.

Some learning outcomes include:

  • Installing and manage network operating systems.
  • Installing and troubleshooting client and server computer hardware and software.
  • Managing various types of directory services.
  • Monitoring network event logs for problem resolution.

The Associate of Science Degree in Information Technology also includes 5 General Education courses intended to encourage skill, business, and career development.

The schedule is offered in a hybrid or online delivery. Hybrid students are required to attend about 6 hours of on-campus labs/lectures per week. Online students are not required to be on-campus.

Total program time is 94 credits of coursework: approximately 18 months to complete.

This module provides students with IT fundamentals. Students learn foundational concepts related to computer hardware and software, networking, databases, programming, information systems, and data security. The course includes a number of hands-on labs to reinforce the concepts students are learning.

Students will learn computer components and specifications, how to troubleshoot PC hardware problems, and understand how to solve computer maintenance issues. This course is designed to prepare you to pass the CompTIA A+ certification, which is the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles.
